Fresh is Best

Many of the restaurants in Madison make it a point to include locally grown produce on their menus, but the farm-to-table mentality doesn’t stop there. Community Roots Market is a small- scale fresh foods market that oozes curb appeal. The shop collaborates with several nearby farmers and fisheries to bring high-quality meats and produce to Madison residents. Not surprisingly, this unique concept is owned by Cindi Fetch, the wife of Preston Snyder of MAD Hospitality.

Farmview Market, which sits on 47 acres, serves many purposes for Madison residents. Part specialty grocery store, part farmers market, this multifunction building also houses its own butcher shop, creamery, and grist mill. Grab your favorite veggies or enjoy a quick and delicious meal in the café area—the options are endless.
Freshness can be found in many places, and fresh air abounds at Southern Cross Guest Ranch. Just a short drive outside of the city, visitors can ride horses alongside knowledgeable guides at a pace that’s suitable for those riding. And there’s even a dude ranch where guests can stay if they choose.

One of the highlights of Madison is the self-guided walking tour of the Madison Historic District. Go at your own pace as you take in 1 1⁄2 miles of Madison’s most alluring homes and historic buildings—one being the Madison-Morgan Cultural Center, a restored 1895 Romanesque Revival building—all of which encompass the storied past and stunning present of Madison.
