Modern Kitchen Design

So much is expected of the modern kitchen today. It’s not only the heart of the home, it has become the social hub of the household where family and friends linger the most. This modern kitchen design combines a wide range of decorative influences with all of today’s modern conveniences.

The new open floor plan was designed for entertaining and takes advantage of all the neighboring spaces, allowing the cook to see and be a part of whatever is going on. The 9-foot island anchors the room and provides a more-than-ample work surface for prepping and serving. Cherry cabinets, ceramic tile floors, and custom stonework around the cooking center offset the sleek stainless steel appliances and add warmth to the room.

Cooking for a crowd has never been easier, thanks to the kitchen’s 60-inch commercial-grade double oven with grill and griddle. The homeowner says it has only increased her passion for trying new dishes and techniques. The pullout cabinet feature is a favorite and stores smaller items for everyday use, such as breakfast foods, condiments, and even the family pet’s bowls.

storage drawers

Heavy-duty cabinet drawers were strategically placed near the hospitality center to house an assortment of china patterns inherited and collected over the years. “It’s nice to have them all in one place and visible to pick and choose from.”

kitchen cutting board

This chopping block is a prized find from a garage sale years back and has made its way through several kitchens. Here it was retrofitted into the cabinetry next to the cooking center.

Every nook was taken advantage of to create interesting storage and prep areas, including this coffee bar and refreshment center. The wall cabinet was custom designed to house a collection of silver teapots. “Two of my absolute favorite details here are the beverage trough and the swing-arm faucet. These little things really make all the difference when entertaining a crowd.”
