Candy Cane Eggnog

This rich and creamy drink is the perfect festive beverage for any holiday occasion.

Candy Cane Eggnog
Serves: about 6
 
Ingredients
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tablespoon peppermint extract
  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 3⁄4 cup sugar
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 3 ounces white chocolate, chopped
  • 1 cup crushed peppermint candy canes
Instructions
  1. In a large saucepan, heat milk, cream, and peppermint extract over medium heat, stirring constantly, just until bubbles form around sides of pan. (Do not boil.)
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together egg yolks, sugar, and salt. Add about 1 cup hot milk mixture to egg yolk mixture, whisking constantly. Add egg yolk mixture to remaining milk mixture in pan, whisking constantly. Cook over medium heat, whisking constantly, until slightly thickened, about 8 minutes. Remove from heat.
  3. In a small microwave-safe bowl, heat white chocolate on high in 10-second intervals, stirring between each, until melted and smooth. Dip rim of each cup into melted white chocolate; dip in crushed candy canes. Pour eggnog into prepared cups. Refrigerate until chilled before serving.
